CHARITY QUIZ TO HELP ADULTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES

Puzzle enthusiasts and amateur quizzers are being invited to take part in a new charity quiz on the Isle of Wight.

It is hoped that the event, which is being organised by Southern Co-op’s Funeralcare branch in Ryde, will awaken people’s minds all in the name of a good cause.

All money raised will be donated to the Phoenix Project as part of Southern Co-op’s community engagement programme ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’.

The Phoenix Project is a specialist day service for adults with learning disabilities based in Haylands in a fully accessible building set in large grounds.

Sam Walker, Southern Co-op’s Funeral Co-ordinator at the Ryde funeral home, said:

“We held a charity ball for the Phoenix Project just a few weeks ago and we were so pleased to have raised just under £1,300. Everyone worked extremely hard and we were very thankful for the community support on the night.

“So we want to try and repeat that success and help the special cause even more but this time we are swapping our ball gowns for cheesy pub jokes and tear-jerking tie-breakers .”

The Phoenix Project is the funeral home’s chosen cause as part of Southern Co-op’s community engagement programme ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’. This initiative addresses four key social themes for promoting: ‘Greener’, ‘Healthier’, ‘Safer’, and ‘More Inclusive’ neighbourhoods.
