Ryde-based Wight Karting will be hosting a charity race event next week, with all profits going to support Isle of Wight athletes competing in the 2017 Gotland Island Games.
The fundraising race will take place on Thursday 4th May starting at 18:00. Drivers will complete 5 minutes of practice racing, have 10 minutes of qualifying, and a thrilling 30 Lap Final. This is a brand new, custom race format which has been specifically designed to give a little extra to racers, so drivers can fully experience racing on the new all-weather track in competitive race.
2 separate charity races will operate for ages 16+ and those aged 12-15, with £20 prize money and trophies available for winners of each race. With a discounted race entry of just £35 (normally £50) and all profits going to selected athletes competing in the Island Games, WightKarting invite competitors from across the Island to take part.

The next Island games commence on Saturday 24th June in Gotland, Sweden. Here Isle of Wight athletes from 15 different sports will compete with other islands from across the world. The games rely entirely on donations to enable athletes from the Isle of Wight to take part.
