People with hearing loss in Ventnor and the surrounding areas are being offered the chance to improve their digital skills at a free workshop on Wednesday 26th July between 14:00-16:00.
National charity Action on Hearing Loss, in partnership with Friends of Ventnor Library, is running a service called Online Today, which aims to help people with sensory loss get online and benefit from technology.
Charity staff and skilled volunteers will be on hand to train people on how to get the most from their tablets, smartphones and eReaders.
The 2 hour session also includes an introduction into various different technologies and gives people a chance to ask specific questions about their personal devices.
Online Today Digital Skills officer, Simon Blakeman, said:
“Technology can help make everyone’s daily lives easier and more interesting, but if you’ve got sensory loss and don’t have the confidence or experience in using new devices, knowing where to start isn’t always easy.
“We look forward to supporting people with hearing loss in helping them to find out how their digital devices can benefit them in everyday life, enable them to set up an online presence and stay connected with friends and family.”
The service is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and operates in partnership with sight loss charity RNIB and 37 other delivery partners across the UK.
