Bobblejob are holding a charity event at Ability Dogs 4 Young People at Sandown Airport on 5th December 2015 and are inviting Islanders along.
Pleased by the support they have received during their launch on the Isle of Wight, Bobblejob have decided to give something back to the community and have chosen Ability Dogs 4 Young People to work with.
The wonderful Sandown-based charity trains assistance dogs for children and young people on the Isle of Wight with physical and mental disabilities, including cerebral palsy, autism and epilepsy, to enhance their independence.
Their training grounds are located in an aircraft hangar at Sandown airport. The hangar was originally used to build Spitfires and is in need of some sprucing up to make it a better venue for the dogs to be trained, and for the children and families who receive dogs to come and meet their new furry friends.
The event will involve volunteers carrying out significant renovation work required at the charity venue free of charge to show that Bobblejob.com can help a community with people working together and for each other.
Islanders are invited along to help transform the training centre on Saturday 5th December from 09:00. The team will be carrying out a variety of jobs on the day, from repainting the walls, removing old electrics and carpeting the floor, to painting a road for both the children and dogs to learn to cross safely, weeding and tidying the outside areas and much more.
You don’t need any particular skills to join in, just a willingness to help. You can find a full list of the jobs that will be carried out at https://www.facebook.com/events/1665616853706216/.
Light snacks and drinks will be proivided at the venue on the day, with a children’s area headed up by a CRB checked school assistant – there will be plenty of games for them to play and activities for them to enjoy whilst the work is carried out.
