The Isle of Wight Council is working with several organisations to provide a day of free taster sessions for a number of sports and activities.
On Sunday (29th March_ at the Rew Valley Centre in Ventnor, seven different sports and activities will be available to try for no cost.
They include table tennis (11am to 1pm), badminton (11:00 to 13:00), Tai Chi (13:15 to 14:00), football (12: to 14:00), Zumba (12:15 to 12:45), belly dancing (11:30 to 12:00) and disc golf (11:00 to 14:00).
There’s no need to book – simply turn up and take part in the activity you are interested in.
The day has been organised by the council’s sports unit as part of its Isle be Active campaign and is supported by Sport England.
Councillor Shirley Smart, whose portfolio includes recreation and sport, said:
“Our sports unit works with local organisations and clubs to provide events such as these.
“Many people may have looked at an activity and thought about giving it a go or getting back into sport but maybe haven’t found the time or don’t want to pay in case they don’t want to continue it.
“The Rew Valley activity day is an ideal opportunity to try an activity for free. There’s no age limit and it is open to anyone to come along, take part, have fun and meet new people.”
