People eagerly awaiting the beginning of Cowes Week can start their celebrations early thanks to Cowes Yacht Haven and a home-grown Isle of Wight record label.
Cowes Yacht Haven is hosting a night of live music curated by Chalkpit Records, the brainchild of student Silas Gregory, this Thursday (4th August).
As the first of its kind, the free event will mark the start of Cowes Yacht Haven’s Cowes Week festivities from Friday 5th – Saturday 13th August, set to include UKSA sailing tutorials, masterclasses led by Nyetimber sparkling wines, local food stalls and a wide range of live entertainment.
From 19:30-23:45, the likes of Eton Girls’ Choir; Vindico; Reminders and James Walker will take to the main stage at Cowes Yacht Haven’s racing village.
Headliners are the Isle of Wight Festival’s Wight Noise competition winners The Orders, while Lauran Hibberd, winner of Bestival’s Island Band, DJ and Spoken Word competition, will perform her pop-folk portfolio earlier in the night.

“We’re always looking for ways to support young talent, so it’s brilliant to welcome these young artists to our racing village ahead of one of the biggest and best sailing events in our calendar.
“Chalkpit Records are the first of a host of exhibitors including Fever-Tree Drinks, Sunsail Yachting Holidays and The Magenta Ladies Project, all of whom are written into our Cowes Week schedule this year.”
