62-year-old Paula Skelly, who is accused of arson, will appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court at the start of next year.
Miss Skelly, of Britain Street in Portsea, was due to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday but she failed to appear. A warrant was issued for her arrested, as previously reported by Island Echo. However, when Paula Skelly appeared before Magistrates this morning (Monday) it transpired that the summons had been sent to an old address.
The court heard how the alleged flicking of a cigarette butt into a pile of rubbish started a fire which caused damage to both the Tarvic 2 and St Mortiz hotels in Sandown on 2nd September.
No plea was entered at today’s hearing. The case has been adjourned to the Crown Court on 28th January.
