A carnival is returning to Cowes this August for the first time since the Summer of 2019.
The Cowes Memorial Carnival – in memory of Bob Hammond, who passed away in February – will be held in the town on Saturday 19th August 2023 at 18:30.
Bob had been a member of Cowes Carnival for decades, dedicating hundreds of hours of his time to organise, build and drive Cowes’ carnival floats each year.
Attention to detail was always given when float building; if he was not happy with how something looked, he would sand it down and repaint it again.
The route will run along Ward Avenue, Park Road, Victoria Road, Mill Hill Road, Birmingham Road, through the town onto the High Street finishing on The Parade.
The last Cowes Carnival Parade was held back in 2019, with COVID-19 restrictions curtailing the 2020 edition. Parade floats haven’t been seen in Cowes since.
Cowes Memorial Carnival will fit between Ventnor Illuminated and St Helens in the carnival calendar.
