Teachers and school staff are now able to claim a 10% discount on shopping at Morrisons in Newport and Lake as a special thank you for looking after the Island’s children throughout the pandemic.
This offer is valid throughout the country and it is simple to claim the discount. All you have to do is show your nursery, school or college photo ID card at the till.
This is open to UK residents aged 16 or over, only valid in-store (not online) and the employee must be present for the transaction to claim the discount – it can’t be passed to a friend or family member but it can be used with a Morrisons More card and any promotional coupons or Morrisons £5 vouchers.
However, the discount is not valid on Fuel, Spirits (England), All alcohol (Scotland and Wales), Tobacco, Lottery products, Gift Vouchers & Cards, Infant/Formula Milk, Cash-back, Dry Cleaning, Fireworks, Online Games & Instant Tickets, Photo Printing, Saver Stamps, Postage Stamps, ‘Top-Up’ Mobile Phone Cards, Garden Centre & Pharmacy.
It is valid in Morrisons run forecourt shops against products but NOT fuel.
Teachers’ discount is available to anyone who works in private nurseries, local authority nurseries and pre-schools, primary, secondary, private and special education schools, sixth form colleges and further education colleges. This includes teachers, teaching assistants, office staff, catering staff and janitors, provided they are employed directly by the school and not a private company and they have an identification badge.
The discount is valid from Monday 2nd November until Sunday 3rd January 2021.

Morrisons are continuing with their NHS 10% discount scheme also, this can be seen on their website by visiting my.morrisons.com/nhs

They get paid, and well, no need to give this so called ‘key’ workers discount.
Most in the NHS are admin, and never face any more danger than our cat.
Keep prices low for EVERYONE, not just the few.
What’s NHS got to do with it ?

Oh right so what about the people who are keeping the utilities flowing & the roads clear? No let’s just do the ones who are paid a good wage & not the working class men who put food on the table & keep this country going hell what may
yes sharon – nice to see that morrisons are giving a discount to teachers, that have been sat at home for months on end – what about those who emptied the bins, swept the streets, made sure the internet, still worked and made sure that the post was delivered.
clearly those that actually do the real day to day mundane jobs, don’t matter for anything to these handwringers.
It would be a nice gesture if Utility Companies, eg SGN or SSE gave reduced bills for Utility Workers.
Yes it is a shame other people who kept the country moving, not just the ones you mentioned many more including Postmen and Women,Binmen/Women shop staff.
They all Deserve something.
what discrimination – so, the rest of us, who have kept the electric, the water, the gas, the public transport and those who actually grew, harvested, packed, shipped and drove that food to those morrisons stores are not worthy of a discount.
which useless, snowflake, hand wringing imbecile thought that this discriminatory policy would be ok – – I will never be shopping at such a divisive, exclusive and narrow minded shop again.
As someone who has worked throughout this whole farce of lockdown and house arrest, I never expected a discount or even a thanks because I am just doing my job, so this pathetic fawning over the already pampered and protected public sector really sticks in the craw – no more shopping at Morrison’s for me because I am definitely not subsidizing their latest virtue signaling escapade for them !
What about giving 10% off to the persons who lost their jobs.
The Teachers and NHS Staff get paid quite well.
What cloud you on Joan?
If you are targeting people with money to come in and spend, teachers etc are the right group. No good getting those on basic rate who are scrimping and saving. Their branded stuff is expensive anyway so they can afford to give a discount. The own brand stuff is tasteless rubbish. Went once, never again.
Why not give bus drivers a discount or charity workers and so it goes on.
Why is one job more important than another. It is getting more pathetic each day.
How about tomorrow night we all clap for all farm animal who have given their lives to feed us.
Why??kids wernt at school.teachers are get paid well unlike lots out there.
No need for singling them out for discount is there.or all key workers should get 10%
Seems bit daft tbh
Teaching kids aint big deal in comparison
Yet another gimmick by a ‘big four’ supermarket to increase their profits even further. Haven’t they done well enough out of this virus already? Most of their high street opposition has been taken out of the game for another four weeks.
If you really wanted to actually help people who are struggling you’d offer discount to those who are now unemployed or on furlough. Not everytime giving it to people who still have a job! But then they would never want to end the class divide would they!!
Ahh yes, the “chosen ones”. The new aristocracy. Meanwhile the serfs get nothing as usual. Well, except for free 30 mins parking in Newport to look at all the empty, closed shops of course.
What about those that work 24/7 unpaid ie local charities ( not only social care). It’s a gimmick just to get free advertising.
Instead of cheaper food thay need 10% less body weight, judging by the ones I see, all they do is eat and drink all day..
Teachers make a good wage but school staff such as teaching assistants and such are extremely underpaid anyway, I think this is a lovely thing to do. Don’t quite understand why everyone’s so angry.
Probably more discounts than Morisons staff! Most School staff are far left that are never happy with their generous pay and a big fat pension, along with three months a year holiday.
Morisons don’t live on my planet, they have no understanding of reality of real hard working people..
I work in care services looking after vulnerable disabled people and wont ever get furloughed. We are classed as key workers. We have long hours at work struggle in to keep our staff to a minimum to help prevent the spread of covid 19. Would be lovely if someone gave us a bit of discount let alone being recognised for the care we provide. Personally i feel anyone working on the ftont line should be treated and thought of equally.
