Southern Vectis is lending its support to local participants in a special fundraising event this week.
The Pink on Wight Breast Cancer NOW Campaign is organising an evening walk for Saturday 19th March. Those taking part are being urged to decorate their bras, pull on their walking boots, pick up their torches and hit the track – all in aid of the charity.
Walkers will begin their moonlight journey at Sandown Bay Academy and follow a route along the cycle path to Newport Matalan (the Earl Mountbatten Hospice Flat Walk).
Those taking part can park their cars at either location – and Southern Vectis is providing two buses to transport walkers between the start and finish lines.
Matt Kitchin, general manager of Southern Vectis said:
“We’re pleased to be supporting this very worthy cause. I hope as many people as possible make use of our vehicles free-of-charge – and that the moonlight walkers are able to raise significant funds in aid of Breast Cancer NOW.”
Joy Marshall, vice chair of Pink on Wight Breast Cancer NOW added:
“I’d like to thank Southern Vectis for helping us with the logistics at the event.
“Making sure people can easily make their way to or from their cars during the evening will encourage even more participants – and that means extra vital funds for our cause. We’re looking forward to welcoming our walkers and hope everyone has a great time.”
Registration costs £10 (forms can be found here) and begins at the start point from 19:30. The walk itself is set to start at 20:00.
