Southern Vectis is showing its support for local athletes by providing them with bus travel across the Isle of Wight.
The bus firm is backing 6 young sportsmen and women for future success by signing up to the Talented Athlete programme, co-ordinated by the Isle of Wight Councils Sports Development Unit.
Richard Tyldsley, General Manager of Southern Vectis has said:
“These young athletes are an excellent example to others across the region and the rest of the country.
“Their commitment and drive make them tremendous prospects for the future. We are providing travel on our buses to help them reach their training sessions and competitions.
“It seems only right that we match their determination with extra support. We wish them every success for the year ahead – and we’ll be following their progress very closely.”
Swimming prospect Grace Poynter says:
“The bus pass has been really helpful in making me more independent and making my training more accessible.”
Alec Broome, the Isle of Wight Council’s Sports development officer adds:
“We are delighted Southern Vectis have once again supported the talented athlete scheme, I know from speaking to the athletes and their parents that being able to travel to and from training venues independently is a huge benefit.”
