Islanders are being invited to brave the cold and take part in a New Year’s swim in aid of Ryde Inshore Rescue.
The brand new, free event is being held on Appley beach on 1st January 2018 and will see swimmers plunge into the Solent to raise vital funds for the independent lifeboat station.
Activities get underway at 10:00 with a safety briefing for all swimmers. A special demonstration will then take place off Appley Beach with both lifeboats – that will also provide safety cover – before the launch tractor sounds its horn for the start of the swim at 10:30.
Ryde Inshore Rescue’s shop will be open with hot and cold drinks for both spectators and competitors.
There is public parking all along the seafront and a large public car park at Appley Park.
