The main road between Ryde and Sandown will be closed tonight (Tuesday) for emergency sewerage clearance works.
Brading High Street will be shut in both directions from 18:30* whilst engineers from Dyno Rod work to clear a clogged up sewer, which is causing properties in the area to flood.
Dyno Rod caused lengthy tailbacks in Brading for a short period this afternoon when they tried to quickly rectify the issue, but it has been deemed that a more intensive operation is required.
Motorists will have to divert via St Helens, Bembridge and Yaverland, or via Ashey and Brading Downs.
Southern Vectis say that all Route 2 and 3 buses will operate from Beaper Shute into Carpenters Road, through to Bembridge and then onwards to Marshcombe Shute and Morton Common.
*It was initially reported by Island Roads that the road would be closed at 20:30. They have now confirmed that the road will be closed at 18:30.
UPDATE @ 22:55 – Brading High Street has now re-opened in both directions.
Buses are returning to a normal route.
