Organisers of Rhythmtree Festival have announced that legendary band The Blockheads will be gracing the main stage on Sunday 16th July.
The Blockheads are just 1 act amongst a whole host of Sunday specials in store for music fans this year including Tankus the Henge, The Infectious, Maverick and the Voodoo Love Orchestra. In addition, The Mekons will be making their first UK festival appearance for many years with their classic 7 piece line up.
Also appearing on the Sunday line-up… Djouna Mumbafu and his full band, Sean Taylor, The Drystones and Circus Raj. Visitors to the 3-day festival can also expect a Rhythmtree staple, the Sunday Shhhh, which delivers a whole afternoon of treats in the Woods hosted by the Island’s own Paul Armfield.
The Blockheads haven’t just survived the loss of their inspirational leader they’ve kept his vision alive whilst maturing and developing as a group and going on to cement their place as one of the UK’s truly great live bands. The charming Derek “The Draw” Hussey has stepped up from being Ian Dury’s long term friend, driver, chaperone and sidekick and delivers the funny, frank, fearless and familiar lyrics with a perfect deadpan authenticity that never descends to imitation.
