Blackwater Hollow has been closed this morning (Thursday) from its junction with Highwood Lane to its junction with Sandy Lane for a distance of 1914 metres.
This is to enable BT Openreach to repair a manhole surround. TM provided by TC123.
The diversion will be via Main Road, Rookley, Merstone Lane, Sandown Road, Blackwater Shute in both directions.
Diversion route(s) will be signed at the time of closure. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
From 09:30 hours on 18th February 2021, for a maximum period of five days or until the works are complete, whichever is sooner.
Buses:
Route 3 buses are diverted from Blackwater to operate via Merstone in both directions. Rookley will be served in either direction.

UPDATE @ 22:00 – Blackwater Hollow has now reopened to traffic according to Southern Vectis, meaning Route 3 buses will now return to their normal line of route during this section of road.

* Please note that the closure period of the order stated above is for legal reasons. In most scenarios, works are normally completed much sooner than the 5 or 21-day order. However, if the works do overrun, a new, updated order will be issued and published on Island Echo.
