Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat Station at Lane End will be open for the station’s annual Open Day on Sunday 20th August.
The lifeboat station will be open for visitors from 11:00 to 16:30. Guests will have the opportunity to view both the inshore and All Weather lifeboats and see the history of the lifeboat service on pictorial and interactive displays at the offshore boathouse.
The Open Day promises to be entertaining, instructive and engaging for all the family, with members of the crew and Lifeboat Guild on hand to explain all about the lifeboats and how they operate and respond in an emergency.
The RNLI shop will be open all day with lifeboat goods, gifts and clothing on sale and there will be stalls selling books, jewellery, and bric-a-brac amongst other items and games and entertainment for all ages.
Members of the Lifeboat Guild will be serving cold drinks, teas, coffees and refreshments, with homemade cakes and sandwiches from their stall throughout the day.
In conjunction with the RNLI’s Respect the Water campaign, the RNLI Sea Safety stand will be present, together with the HM Coastguard to offer valuable safety advice on how to keep safe in a marine environment. There will also be a free ‘lifejacket clinic’ for anyone to bring their lifejackets along to be checked for safety and seaworthiness.
Subject to operational availability, the relief all-weather lifeboat Frank and Anne Wilkinson, together with the inshore lifeboat Norman Harvey is scheduled to carry out a launch at 14:00, which may be viewed from the public gallery in the offshore boathouse, followed by a spectacular simulated rescue display in front of the spectators on the shoreline.

If only that were true.
MOST monies given now, go to using the RNLI as a taxi service to bring in ever more ‘dingy flotsam’ causing our nation to suffer the cost of supplying everything for people who are breaking the law as soon as they set foot here, and many will continue to live that way until their all too distant state paid for funeral relieves us tax payers of that burden, but, by then, they will have scattered dependant clones far and wide to wombs, often if willing or not.
Give NOTHING to the RNLI ever again imo.

I rarely gave to them anyway, but would rather give it to the dogs home, at least they know no better if they bite the hand that feeds them.
Exactly my thoughts , I used to give regularly but never again , RNLI management have also upset long standing volunteers . Once a great organisation with dedicated crews going back generations mine included.
