Mum-of-one Becky Wall, who was left fighting for her life after a serious crash on Briddlesford Road last month, has made an improvement and is now off life support.
The 28-year-old has been in a coma in intensive care at Southampton General Hospital for the past month after being seriously injured in a 2-car collision near Wootton.
Now, Becky’s family have provided a positive update on her condition. Taking to the Facebook fundraising page, which to date has raised over £12,000, the family have said:
“Exactly a month on since the incident and I am extremely happy to be able to present with some good news. As of today, for the past 12 hours, Becky has officially come off of life support.
“This, so far, is the biggest step forward she has made. She is not using a machine to breathe in any capacity and only has a feeding line through her nose and a few IVs for various things. There is a possibility of hiccups down the line where she may end up back on it, but so far so good.
“Becky has movement in her arms and legs, likes to wriggle around a lot, making the nurses jobs very difficult! She is not a fan of the monitor clipped on to her ear, which she keeps pulling off.
“Becky can track people’s faces with her eyes and has on occasion seemed to respond to things, but not consistently or reliably enough to be considered as responses.
“Unfortunately no voice yet, but the nurses and doctors say her current state is very common in severe brain injury patients.

“Once again I need to thank each and every one of you — individuals, business, donators and wellwishers for all the support this past month. I honestly don’t know how we would have coped without this community holding us up and pushing us forward. You’re all amazing.”
31-year-old Ben Entwistle of Westlake Avenue, Lake has been charged with 4 offences in relation to Becky’s crash – causing injury through dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving whilst uninsured and driving whilst disqualified.
Mr Entwistle will appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 12th August.

I think this person was referring to the comment above theirs saying they hoped the driver who caused the accident would be locked up for a long time. Sentences these days just don’t seem to fit the crime and are no deterrent. So happy to hear your good news and pray that your daughter gets stronger daily.
