A programme of classical and contemporary ballet pieces performed by a selection of exceptionally talented young dancers is set to take to the stage at Medina Theatre in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
The GALA is the brainchild of Robert Robinson who originates from the Island and is now a professional ballet dancer with the Stuttgart Ballet Company.
Robert has wanted to organise a ballet gala on the Island for some time and especially in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice where his grandfather spent his last days in 2011 before Robert graduated in Germany as a professional dancer.
Robert is privileged to have trained and now also work with exceptionally talented dancers who dance for world-renowned companies such as the Stuttgart Ballet, Dutch National Ballet & Ballet Augsburg. He has selected 7 dancers who will fly to the UK and give up their time to perform in this charity gala for the hospice.
Robert said:
“Dance is a very international art form and I am most privileged to be working with some of the worlds most talented dancers. Even more satisfying are the friendships that grow and develop through my work. I am therefore extremely pleased and honored to present in this Gala some of my best friends and colleagues who have been selfless in giving up their time for charity”.
To put some perspective around the dancers who will be performing. Elisa Badenes has become an icon in the ballet world at a very young age. Only days after performing for us on the Island, Elisa flies off to perform as a guest star at the Sydney Opera house in Australia.
Miles Pertl and Martina Verbeni who dance for the Dutch National Ballet will have already started back to work from their summer break and have had to gain special permission from Dutch National Ballet to fly to Southampton from Amsterdam to perform for two days on the Island before having to be back at work on Monday 11th August. The other dancers are all giving up their holiday to perform in aid of the hospice. There will be a retiring collection after each performance.
