Written by Giles Cole and co-produced with Isle of Wight actor and director, Graham Pountney, After All These Years is a bittersweet comedy about the passing of time, memory, love and last chances, which was awarded the Brighton Fringe Outstanding Theatre Award 2023.
This brand-new production will be coming to the Minghella Theatre at Quay Arts in Newport from 21st-24th June.
This funny and poignant production is brought to life by a brilliant new cast including real-life married couple Jeffrey Holland and Judy Buxton who play Alfred and Joanie, with Carol Ball playing Marianne and Isle of Wight actor and director Graham Pountney playing Charlie.
Relationships can be a delicate balance of hope, desire, memory, regret and much more besides, especially when 2 former showbiz couples think they know all there is to know about each other. But what secrets are quietly waiting for their cue to change the course of these couple’s lives forever?
Could you remember the name of a TV weatherman from 20 years ago? Alfred can’t and it’s driving him crazy. Charlie doesn’t care and Joanie isn’t letting on. And Marianne? Marianne is about to stun them all.
Writer Giles Cole said:
“We are delighted to win the Outstanding Theatre Award at Brighton Fringe this year, it means a great deal to everyone involved who has put so much work into this new production of After All These Years. This play was enormous fun to write and takes a gently comedic look at relationship difficulties in older life when things are supposed to be calm and well settled. Audiences loved this play when it 1st aired at the Brighton Fringe in 2021 to great reviews and once again showed their appreciation for it in 2023.”
Director Graham Pountney adds:
“I can’t quite believe it! We were nominated in 2021 and now to win the Outstanding Theatre award in 2023 is fantastic. It shows we’re doing something right and audiences are loving the productions we put on. I urge people to come and see Giles Cole’s brilliant new play it’s a great evening out.”
“A fresh cast are bringing a wonderful skilfulness and comic quality to the beauty of this piece – and an effortless contrast to the moments of surprise and pathos that shock and entertain our audiences. It’s wonderful to be onstage with them – and a delight directing this highly entertaining play!”
