Islanders are being invited to The Big Lunch event in Ryde this coming Sunday which will be opened by the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, who is looking forward to tasting some of the free desserts & treats available.
The event, which starts at 12:00 on Sunday 7th June at Aspire Ryde on Dover Street, is a bid to get the community of Ryde together to chat, get to know one another, find out what is happening at Ryde’s main community venue ‘Aspire’, look at volunteering opportunities with a volunteer fair and also take a peek at some of the goods that are available at the vintage & craft fair.
The Big Lunch was set up by The Eden Project as a way of attracting people together to look at community issues and improve their neighbourhoods. Ryde’s Big Lunch organiser, Heath Monaghan, said:
“It is an important part of what we are trying to achieve here at Aspire Ryde as it gets the community together, hopefully get to know each other and become a real community”.
All are welcome to the event at Aspire Ryde, the former Holy Trinity Church on Dover Street, Ryde.
