Young people attending Ventnor Fringe on Sunday 23rd July will have the opportunity to share their vision for the Isle of Wight by designing their own T-shirt, which they’ll be able to take home with them after the event.
The free workshop, which takes place between 13:00-14:30 at The Nest venue in Ventnor Park will be led by local artist and musician Jess Ong.
The unique workshop will also act as a ‘creative consultation’ event – a space for young people aged 11-25 to share their experiences of living on the Island and explore their visions for the future. This will be the first of 12 consultations which kick off Artswork’s Young Cultural Changemakers programme on the Isle of Wight.
Young Cultural Changemakers puts creative power in the hands of young people. Through connecting groups of young people with artists to explore and articulate their ideas, they will learn the skills needed to become leaders in the creative field and be given funding to shape and deliver significant creative projects that will make a difference where they live. This project is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
Artsworks Placemaking Creative Producer for the Isle of Wight, Peta Rainford said:
