hampshireconstabularylogoPolice are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a hit and run incident involving a 16-year-old girl in Newport earlier this month.

At around 08:50 on Monday 3rd October, a 16-year-old girl was crossing Trafalgar Road when she was hit by a car, which then drove off from the scene. The girl suffered a minor shoulder injury.

The driver has been described as a white woman driving a 4 or 5 door silver Vauxhall Astra. There was a child in a car seat in the back of the vehicle.

The incident was only reported to police last Wednesday (12th October).

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who can help identify the vehicle involved.

PC Tom Wyld said:

“We are appealing for the driver of this vehicle to contact police as we would like to speak with you about the incident.

“Additionally, we would also like to hear from any members of the public who witnessed the incident, or can help us identify the vehicle involved.

“This happened on a busy road with lots of pedestrians and vehicles around going about their daily commute.”
