A major education, jobs and careers fair called Your Future is being staged at the Isle of Wight College on Thursday (29th October) between 11:00 and 15:00.
The event, which will have more than 60 exhibitors, aims to give key advice to residents aged from 14 and upwards, including adults. It has been commissioned by the Isle of Wight Council and will be attended by dozens of employers and universities.
Amongst the organisations confirmed as attending Platform One, Job Centre Plus, BAE Systems, Island Futures and the Isle of Wight NHS including a number of training providers. Universities include Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester, Plymouth and Chichester as well as several others.
Companies looking to recruit have informed event organisers of their vacancies and Jobcentre Plus staff will be looking to match up their clients with prospective employers at the event.
A free shuttle bus service is available from the library stand at Newport bus station to the college and back, from 10.30am on the day.
Isle of Wight Council leader, Jonathan Bacon, said:
“This is the fourth year we have run this excellent event which continues to prove very popular. Last year more than 800 people attended and there are very few events on the Isle of Wight where so many training and education providers and private companies are in attendance in one location.
“It provides an excellent opportunity to bring together many sectors with the common aim of helping the Island’s young people and developing our economy and I look forward to attending what will be an exciting and fun day.”
