Almost all of the Island’s primary school children have received a place at the school of their choice this year, according to the Isle of Wight Council.
Hundred of pupils will find out which primary school they will be heading to in September today (Friday), with 96% of children being allocated a place at their first-choice school.
Every child, for which an application was submitted to the council, received a school place, with just 2% receiving a place at their second choice school (down from 3% last year), and 0.3% achieving their third choice allocation.
1% of children were allocated a place at the nearest school with a place when the authority was unable to meet any of their parent’s preferences.
