Stupidity (formally the Nightwatchmen) will be releasing their first album, Dust, with a live show to celebrate the launch at Ventnor Arts Club on Friday (17th March).
With 9 songs, 7 of which are originals, Rob Thompson and Julian Wolfreys invite you to explore some of their stranger fancies, their personal and political irritations and to take a look with them at the odder aspects of the human animal.
Running through the songs are images and stories, familiar to audiences of the Nightwatchmen’s 2 albums (The Breaking Wheel, The Intelligence of Crows), but presented on Dust with a still more surreal, occasionally dark, not to say eccentric sensibility, asking you to examine what the world looks like from underneath someone else’s skin.
There’ll be circuses, zoos, menageries and moral fables, all with a soupcon of quiet and very English insanity.
Julian says:
“We put the ‘you’ in Stupidity, so why not come and help us do that”.
