AIR AMBULANCE CALLED TO WOMAN ON CULVER

womanbrokenankleculverairambulance6UPDATED: The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is attending to a woman with a severely broken ankle on Culver Down near Sandown this afternoon (Tuesday).

At around 13:15  HM Coastguard and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to a remote part of the downland overlooking Sandown Bay after a female fell and broke her ankle.

The charity-funded air ambulance has landed on Culver and the onboard HEMS team are preparing to transfer the casualty to hospital by air with the assistance of Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team.

UPDATE – The woman, who was out walking with her husband when she fell, has been flown to St Mary’s Hospital this afternoon.

Emergency teams have now left the scene.
