ADA Mezze restaurant in Carisbrooke could be turned into a residential flat in the future.
Permission is being sought by the owner of the restaurant, on Carisbrooke High Street, to convert the property into a 2-bedroom flat. There are already flats above the ground floor restaurant.
In planning documents, agent for the development, Norman White, said the current climate has made running the business uneconomic and the restaurant has remained closed for most of the year. It has not reopened since the latest lockdown eased. According to the eatery’s Facebook page, it has still been offering a delivery and pick-up service for customers.
However, owner Ali Demir says that there is no intention of closing the restaurant at this time – the application is simply for future purposes as there is an interested party in buying the freehold who wants the option to convert the restaurant in the future.
He said:
“I think we have made it, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel but the reason we are asking for planning permission is we do not know where we are going with Covid. The government could turn around and say we have another lockdown.
“If this is the way it is going to go in 2021, we might say this is what we have got in our pocket, let’s just use it.
“We might be closing in the next few months or the next few years but we have no intention now. We will let people know though if that happens.”

The planning application was submitted to the Isle of Wight Council’s planning department at the end of November, during the second national lockdown.
The property is located on the High Street and no parking is shown as it is within walking distance of shops in Carisbrooke and on the bus route into and out of Newport.

And that filling a small land up with millions of rapidly breeding, poor people, could be somehow, mysteriously ‘good’ for our economy, our congested roads, our already full landfill, good for our pollution, our power, water, sewerage system, our crime levels, our standard of living.
And such must be good now that our once beautiful countryside, hedges woods, plants, ponds all destroyed to make room for millions more unneeded, unwanted and it must be said, often very ungrateful people is ‘worth destroying such for.
Easier to ban such ‘talk’ to those who can see the truth under the banner of hate, when in fact it is common sense and it is what MOST people rightly know, but are too afraid to say now. But HENCE the Brexit vote, as a private secret last ditch stand against such ruination of our country by politicians to flood the land with cheap self reproducing labour, but which is not needed now, and NOW has to be kept, not for a while but forever more.
