Acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter and guitarist Adam Beattie will be stopping off on his nationwide tour to give a solo performance in the cosy and intimate setting of Medina Bookshop in Cowes next Friday (22nd September).
Admired by his peers and audiences alike for his smooth honeyed tones, onstage charm and masterful songwriting, his 5th solo album the mesmeric Somewhere Round The Bend was released to much critical praise. Witnessing his beautiful, intricate finger-picking style, it comes as no surprise that an early break found him supporting folk guitar legend Bert Jansch at the O2ABC in Glasgow, and since then Beattie has toured the UK and Europe playing all the major folk festivals and venues, both solo and as one-twelfth of trad-folk supergroup Band Of Burns.
Celebrity plaudits are plentiful, his music was described as ‘incredibly beautiful’ by Mary Anne Hobbs of BBC 6 Music, and “fantastic” by Bob Harris, and he has also been heavily championed by Roddy Hart, who featured the album as his ‘Record Of Note’ on BBC Radio Scotland.
Adam’s collaboration with alt-folk band PicaPica was signed to iconic Rough Trade Records, and his multi-instrumentalist skills have also been of service to some big names such as Birdy, Lulu, Michael Chapman, Fiona Bevan, Mikey Kenney, Gabriel Moreno, Leonie Evans and many others.
Adam is currently writing a new album of narrative songs based on his experiences growing up in Aberdeenshire. Two new songs Home Fires Burning and The Girl From The Seaside Town give us an exciting look at the beautiful melodic folk songs that are to come. His Cowes performance will see him showcasing some of these new songs.
