Renowned folk musician Jon Wilks is set to perform at Quay Arts in Newport on Friday 29th September.
This eagerly-awaited appearance comes hot on the heels of his most recent album – Before I Knew What Had Begun I Had Already Lost – which was recognised as Folk Album of the Month by The Guardian.
Having carved a niche for himself as a proponent of the UK’s living folk tradition, Jon’s work has been described by Uncut Magazine as, “reanimating broadside ballads and antique pieces with a scholar’s ear for vernacular and a dashing sense of verve on fingerpicked guitar.”
The album also boasts original compositions that highlight Wilks’s poetic prowess, notably the evocative “Greek Street,” set against the backdrop of Soho.
