A total of 610 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight to date, with new data revealing every single age group has been affected.
The latest case was identified on Tuesday, with 10 cases confirmed the day before.
3 toddlers under the age of 4 have been hit by the virus according to statistics published by Public Health England, which show coronavirus cases on the Isle of Wight have been recorded in every 5-year age group between 0 and 90+ in the last 7 months since the deadly virus started.
Figures produced for the period from 4th March up until 23rd October also show that 2 cases have been identified in those aged 5 to 9. In children and teenagers, 6 cases have been identified in 10 to 14-year-olds but 28 found in 15 to 19-year-olds.
The biggest number of cases found in one age group under 50 was in the 20 to 24-year-olds were 40 cases has been found. Either 30 or more than 30 cases have been recorded in every 5-year age category between 25 and 49.
Cases of people in their 50s show 85 people have tested positive for the virus, compared to only 65 cases in people in their 60s and 57 in the 70 to 79 age range. Between the ages of 80 to 89, 91 cases had been recorded. The most cases have been recorded in the 90+ age category with 54 positive tests, with the second-highest totals in those aged 85 to 89.
Despite warnings older people may be more likely to get the virus, more cases have been found in people aged 0 to 59 than 60+, with 325 cases to 267.
On 1 day in April, 34 positive cases were recorded — with 18 confirmed cases in the 0 to 59 age category and 16 in the over 60s.
3 cases have been unassigned to age groups.
Few it seems over the next decade will escape the scourge of this illness. Only hope is it won’t ‘take us’, and we will recover without leaving any life changing disability to burden us with. The hope of a lasting vaccine seems to be dashed now. Good luck all.
right on – this scourge as you put it, has a 99.98% survival rate – hardly justifies the destruction of economies, the reckless trampling on the freedoms of individuals and the endless desire to create a never ending, pointless, cliff edge of doom, pantomime by the media and government, does it.
none of this lockdown etc would be happening, if politicians weren’t worried about their own jobs being lost, if tales of woe and misery started appearing and claims of people dying in a queue outside a hospital were made.
We haven’t all had it yet so your survival rate is “FAKE NEWS” of those testing positive on the island 14.75% have died, and globally its around 5% of those testing positive that have died. If we ALL act responsibly OBEY THE RULES then perhaps we can slow the rapid acceleration of cases on the island and keep the hospital available for other serious illnesses. As for freedom of individuals most would like the freedom to be safe when having to go out by others showing some respect and giving space.

And still the government arnt putting us on any restrictions….we had less cases in March and was put on lock down so why is nothing being done now

The IOW Council have NO POWERS to stop people coming to the island. Notice the capital letters? Thats so that some of you people who continually post on here that the council should stop visitors coming to the island get it into your thick skulls that only a change in the law by central government can achieve what you want. Stop blaming the council, they are not responsible for all of your imagined problems.
Working with the Government, oh yes they do. Once they found out how many people were traveling over here a day to get COVID tested (40) even they were shocked and got it stopped immediately. In total approx 200 came from the mainland to IOW. Disgusting. There is an awful lot that goes on the public don’t even get to realise. Oh, and I am not thick.

I cannot understand how the Ferry companies don’t appear to have any social distancing by roping off some seats to separate people as most other service business do, and also Coaches don’t appear to have any social distancing or asking that face masks be worn !!
Are these ferries and coaches being sanitized after use ??
