The number of missions completed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) increased from 1,429 in 2018 to 2,262 in 2019 – an increase of 58%.
Of the 2,262 missions responded to, 640 (28% of them were cardiac arrests, whilst 388 of the call-outs were to road traffic collisions.
The busiest month of 2019 was July with 244 shouts.
Alex Lochrane, CEO of HIOWAA, comments:
“In 2019 we increased our paramedic and doctor numbers and expanded our fleet of Critical Care Team Vehicles. As a result, we are now able to reach more patients than ever before in need of our advanced medical care.
“This has only been possible thanks to the ongoing generosity and unflinching support from members of all our communities in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.”
Over 9,000 missions have now been responded to by the air ambulance, which is based out of Andover.
No doubt much caused by all the car accidents here.
No small wonder the ‘door’ fell off, likely worn out hinges with all the ‘careful’ but unlucky drivers here needing it’s services.
Great service and we should drop a few ‘coppers’ in the tin to support this.
A great service fantastic job they do but should be government funded
