A total of 5 babies – 3 boys and 2 girls – were welcomed into the world at St Mary’s Hospital on New Year’s Day.
The first to arrive on 1st January 2017 was baby Arthur who was born at 06:13, a son for Helen and Mark Kingston of Newport. He weighed in at 8lb 7oz.
Grace Berryman and Adam Cade welcomed their son Vinnie at 08:46, the second birth of New Year’s Day. He weighed in at 8lbs 13oz.
At 13:00 Alice Turvey was born, a daughter for Grace and Luke Turvey. She weighed in at 7lbs 10oz. Just 8 minutes later at 13:08 baby Woody was born, a son for Katie and James Homes of East Cowes. Baby Woody weighed in at 8lb 5oz.
Finally to arrive was Romy Florence Hoyal born at 17:28, a daughter for Claire and James Hoyal of Shanklin. She weighed in at 7lb 13oz.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight NHS Trust said:
“This is a fantastic way to start the New Year and thank you to all our Maternity staff for working over the holiday period”.
In 2016, 4 babies were born on New Year’s Day.
