Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club secured 4 wins at Ryde Regatta in challenging conditions on Saturday (20th May).
Senior Ladies crew of Beth Katirewa, Frances Katirewa, Emily Faithfull, Daisy Faithfull and Esme Walters (cox) won the 1st race of the day by a 4-length margin after leading from the start.
Daisy and Emily also took the Ladies Senior pairs victory and the club’s 3ird win of the day was another victory for Daisy, this time in the Ladies Senior sculls.
The club’s 4th win came courtesy of the Men’s novice 4 crew of Carter Horrix, Paul Gamble, Louis Sheasby, Fred Giemza-Pipe and Esme Walters.
The crew also led from the start and coped well with the conditions to win by 6 lengths.
The Katirewa sisters were in contention for the club’s 5th win of the regatta in their 1st outing; however, a clash at the turns saw the crew drop into 2nd spot and – despite a solid row back from the turns – were unable to overcome the deficit to the leading crew.
