Authors Ian Caro, Fran Heath, Hillard Morley and Barrie Singleton will all be celebrating the launch of their respective new books at Medina Bookshop in Cowes this Friday (26th May).
Anyone is invited to enjoy a glass of wine, chat to and hear readings from each of the authors and pick up a signed first edition or 2.
Bookshop manager Paul Armfield says:
“We love celebrating local talent and getting 4 authors together is a great way of making a bigger splash and introducing readers to new authors.
“A chance to acknowledge the huge amount of work and imagination that goes into each book, authors are understandably thrilled to finally get their books in the hands of their readers and so book launches are always very positive and uplifting events.”

The Overlooked by Ian Caro
Born in Castleford and now living on the Isle of Wight, Ian has worked as a stage manager, a lighting designer, a ghost writer and a lawyer, he currently provides pre-publication legal advice to a number of national and regional news publishers. The main character of his novel Alex Winstone lives his life as if he’s constantly being watched. The Overlooked is the story of what happens when he discovers he’s not, it’s been described as Nineteen Eighty-Four reimagined by the lovechild of Chuck Palahniuk and Ernesto Sabato.
Out Of Darkness by Barrie Singleton
Barrie Singleton describes himself as a latter-day Quixote sallying forth in verse to tilt at corruption, hypocrisy, false prophets and poor poets. Out Of Darkness takes forty-two tilts at philosophical thought, political animals and pretentious poets. Each poem is lit with Barrie’s wry wit, acute observation and irreverent railing against thoughtless thought.
The Shadowing Of Combfoot Chase by Hillard Morley
Having studied Literature at Durham University, Hillard Morley Hillard Morley taught Drama and English for many years. In 2020 she was shortlisted for the Independent Arts ‘Jot’ Award and in 2018 she won the OWT Short Fiction Prize. The Shadowing of Combfoot Chase is her first novel. Her novel is rooted in concerns about surveillance capitalism and told in polyphonic, dark and witty episodes that reveal a society under threat.
Five Things I Can See by Fran Heath
Fran Heath is the author of bildungsroman novel, Pencil Lead. She’s also written and illustrated a rhyming picture book – How We Choose to Play – and a book of dreams – Unconscious Adventures.
Her second novel, Five Things I Can See, is a snapshot into one woman’s struggles with the anxieties of modern life, motherhood and personal fulfilment.
