Port lost on the road in North Island to New Milton by the best of 3 goals. Newport conceded in the 1st minute when Leon Pitman brought down a New Milton player in the penalty area and the spot kick was converted by the home side (1-0). Port equalised in the 19th minute through a Sonny Myram strike from a corner (1-1). The Island side were unlucky not to have taken the lead towards the end of the 1st half when Michael Thompsett struck the crossbar. New Milton pressed Newport in the 2nd half with Pitman forced to make a superb save and Matt Oatley clearing off the line. The breakthrough for the home side came in the 2nd minute of injury time, with the winning goal scored by New Milton’s Barney Stone (2-1).
