3 Police officers were assaulted whilst arresting a wanted man, who was covered in blood, during a call out last night (Saturday).
Police were called to a domestic incident – which is thought to have taken place in The Bay area shortly before 23:00 – and found themselves face-to-face with a ‘volatile and violent’ male.
Whilst attempting to detain the male, who was also wanted for breaching a court order, 2 response and patrol officers and a dog handler were punched, pushed and elbowed.
Gas was deployed to bring the situation under control and cuff the male.
Taking to the force’s Isle of Wight Facebook page, PC Rogers said:
“Incidents such a these highlight the dangers our officers face every day, but this does not ever make it acceptable.
“No one should go to work to be assaulted.
“Equally, if you are suffering at home and need any advice or support, please reach out.”

Lessland lane actually goes to Lessland farm only. The lane from Sanford to Bathingbourne is Batthingbourne lane whom ever renamed has not done his home work!
Everyone is finding it hard having nothing much to do, so that is no excuse, as it says it was a domestic incident wouldn’t it be wise if you do have a bit of a argument to just chill out and go for a walk? Why does it always have to end in a situation like this where police officers are injured because someone cant control themselves.

The police on the island need to go in hard and fast with violent incidents. Why wait until three officers have been assaulted before they sprayed him? He should have been tasered or set the police dog on him.
If they sent in the dog first, i hope the person does not have the virus ! ! ! Mind you, i hope he didn’t have the virus either for the officers sake.
