At around 00:15 on Sunday 1st April, an altercation took place between a group of people on Orchard Street between the bus station and the junction with South Street.
3 men are said to have been assaulted during the incident.
Officers would now like to hear from any witnesses who saw what happened.
Police Staff Investigator George Bason said:
“There were a lot of people in the area around the time of this incident, and we would like to speak to anyone who saw exactly what happened.”
A 40-year-old man from Ryde and a 37-year-old man from Newport have been arrested on suspicion of affray. They have both been released from custody but remain under investigation.
