As previously reported by Island Echo, thousands of households were left without water supply when a 10-inch and a 12-inch pipe burst near to Rosemary Lane. The force of the 2 pipes bursting together resulted in both the pavement and carriageway being lifted, just weeks after Island Roads resurfaced the road from Smallbrook to Swanmore.
Despite some remedial works to get the road reopened, the surface has been sub-standard for several months.
From 09:00 on Tuesday (3rd January 2017) until 16:00 on Thursday (5th January) Ashey Road will be closed between Bettsworth Road and Smallbrook Roundabout so that the carriageway can finally be reinstated to specification.
Motorists are due to be diverted via Upton Road and Carters Road in both directions.
