The Isle of Wight Freshwater Angling Company held its first juniors’ competition in many years, with 15 young anglers fishing on Minnow Lake, Merstone, on Sunday 27th October.
Participants were provided with measured bait, including maggots, sweetcorn, and luncheon meat, and fished from 10:00 until the weigh-in at 14:00. Each of the young competitors focused on their fishing, fostering a sense of community amongst participants and their families.
The competition culminated in a weigh-in, with the following winners taking home trophies for their efforts:
- 1st Place: Dottie Wagstaff
- 2nd Place: Vanya Warren
- 3rd Place: Adam Munns
In addition to trophies given to the top 3, every participant received a bundle of fishing equipment to encourage them to continue pursuing their passion for angling. Furthermore, the regular match competitors provided each young angler with money to invest in expanding their tackle.
