A charity car wash held by firefighters at Tesco in Ryde raised over £1,200 today (Saturday).
Firefighters from Ryde Fire Station took over part of the supermarket’s car park between 11:00-15:00 in order to raise money for The Firefighter’s Charity, Ronald McDonald House Southampton and Wight Brainy Bunch.
The gloriously sunny and warm conditions meant the cars kept arriving, with generous Islanders donating a fantastic total of £1,240.77.
Of the money donated, £620 will go to The Firefighter’s Charity, £310 to Ronald McDonald House and £310 to Wight Brainy Bunch.
Editor’s footnote: Thanks to all who shared Island Echo’s social posts and to those who donated today!
