Mindless vandals have damaged and destroyed a number of beautiful Cordyline plants at the award winning Ventnor Park this week.
Cordyline’s are evergreen shrubs that originate from Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim and are grown for their attractive foliage in shades of green, bronze, purple.
Sadly, a number of branches have been snapped off and discarded in the pond.
The Isle of Wight Council’s parks department have assessed the damage and cleared the debris.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council has said:
”The parks department is a very small and hardworking team that go above and beyond in making sure our parks are lovely places for all of us to enjoy and this is one part of their role that they find extremely frustrating and saddening”.
