Hugh Cornwell, the frontman, guitarist and songwriter behind British rock band The Stranglers, will be taking to the stage at Jack Up The Summer this August.

Those heading to the North Fairlee Farm event on 10th August can expect a storming set of iconic hits such as ‘Golden Brown’ and ‘Always the Sun’ sung and played by the main man himself and his band.

The Stranglers are widely recognised as one of the most long-lived and internationally popular bands from the original wave of British punk rock and enjoyed massive UK and European success with 10 hit albums and 21 Top Forty singles.

As the man who propelled them to chart success, Hugh Cornwell is universally acknowledged as one of the UK’s finest songwriting talents and accomplished live performers.

Organisers of Jack Up The Summer have said:

“This man is the heart, the soul, the face and the voice of The Stranglers. In a career spanning four decades he has etched himself into our musical psyche and we couldn’t be more honoured that he’s taking time out following his Australian and New Zealand tour this year to grace the Jack Up The Summer stage.

“Hugh will be in excellent company performing alongside Haircut 100’s Nick Heyward, Heaven 17 and Aswad for our 80’s Day.”

Speaking about his upcoming appearance, Hugh said:

“Just strap on your guitar and we’ll play some rock & roll. If you’re not on the Isle of Wight joining in this fabulous Summer party in August, why not? You can’t miss it. This festival is going to crackle with electricity. I like the Island a lot, it’s a great location and has an interesting vibe to it.”
