Police are in attendance at a crash in Ryde this lunchtime (Monday) where a Skoda Fabia has collided with at least 1 parked car.
Emergency services were alerted to the collision near the junction with Arundel Road at around 12:45.
No one has been injured in the smash, but significant front-end damage has been caused to both the Skoda and a Citroen C4 Picasso which was parked on the main road.
It’s unclear if the C4 was shunted into a Suzuki Jimny parked behind it. The Suzuki was involved in a similar crash back in May last year.
UPDATE @ 15:20 – Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that no injuries were sustained in this afternoon’s incident.
The vehicles involved have been recovered.
An eyewitness has told Island Echo that they saw the Fabia driving from Brading to Ryde ‘all over the road’, with the car almost colliding with the back of another vehicle on Tesco roundabout.
The witness has said:
“I held back then he just accelerated towards a parked car”.

More idiots will be along soon….
More bad driving on the IW
The person under the alias another idiot will be along soon. In my opinion he is the biggest idiot for he can say little else sounds very uneducated
Yes but he is right.
they were idiots!says hes did same last year lol…so..=100%idiot!
No it doesn’t say that,it says the innocent Suzuki Vitara that was parked was in similar incident. It was the Skoda that crashed into Citroen that sounds like shunted into it. From eye witness -may be yes the Skoda driver might be an idiot or medical condition, sure IE will get updated from police if arrested.
Or even a Jimny, maybe I need to read correctly as well.
what i said…same..ie similar …der
I wonder if local news sites in other areas of the country report what seems like every collision between two motor vehicles on their roads? I’m not sure they do.
No-one injured, no diversions, no roads closed, so really what’s the point of reporting it? Accidents/collisions happen all the time on every road in every part of the country. I wonder what the obsession is with the Echo that they feel the need to report a collision between two vehicles as ‘news’? I doubt very much that there’s any more collisions here than most other places in the country, probably a lot less as many other places are a lot more congested.
Or, is it that they know they can gain clicks and comments from the usual people posting inane remarks?
Imagine being so miserable you hang around websites complaining there is too much news!
Even if it doesn’t effect you, you are a miserable twat
Well its just a case of really bad driving over here and too many parked cars on are roads most of which don’t move people are too lazy to walk and even flick a switch call a indicator
Well it got you commenting, so………..
Because it creates debate and maybe other witnesses come forward, dash cam or others had their cars also damaged on this Skoda’s journey. And if not here it’s always in Facebook everywhere across the country.
nobody is forcing you to read it
Very good point for debate, I would have thought, Catherine. I was saying to my son in Portsmouth this morning about there being so many minor collisions and incidents on the roads here and probably more than in the city, He said it was more likely that there were lots more in Portsmouth but people just didn’t hear of them because they were not reported through local media. Shows how what is broadcast has a big effect on people’s thinking, opinions and even fears.
Ha ha ha ha …. !! Ban the driver for life !!
I followed an elderly lady in a suzuki driving 20 mph today in Ryde she slowed down even more when cars came towards her if this is a family member please take them off the road
These sort of incidents are likely too happen with all the vehicles parking on

At least no one was hurt.
At least. At last someone with a sensible comment.
The Suzuki Jimny is totally at fault and responsible for this – it has jumped out on passing cars before and is obviously working for the Accident Repair companies.
The courts should issue it with an ASBO and order it to wear clamps when parked.
(If I was its unfortunate owner I think I would sell it as soon as the damage has been fixed – the Jimny is jinxed.)
The Tories have decimated the police force and the moral of the police. It will get worse, so best strap some bull bars on your cars because will be more bad drivers out on the roads not giving a shit. More and more with no licence and no intention of getting a license.
It’s not the Tory government driving the cars. I was driving to work Monday morning over the downs. Some chap pulled straight out in front of me from Knighton Shute. The Police were on the scene in minutes.
