Ryde Inshore Rescue’s brand new lifeboat is on its way and should be in service by the Summer.
The replacement Ryde Rescue 1 is currently being built by Ribcraft and will be powered by dual 150hp outboards, making it one of the quickest rescue boats on the Solent. The new lifeboat will be significantly larger than the existing one with an extra 2m added in length.
Volunteer crew members will have 4 independently suspended seats making for a more comfortable ride, with a reconfigured deck layout so that the helm and navigator sit side-by-side.
Back in November the Appley-based organisation were awarded £63,000 by the Department for Transport to go towards the new lifeboat and other vital equipment.
