Rhythmtree, the family friendly musical extravaganza, is to return to Three Gates Farm for it’s 9th consecutive year in July with more great artists from all across the world than ever before.
Organisers have this morning (Friday) revealed that trip-hop legends Morcheeba will be closing the 3-day festival on the Sunday night, whilst also highlighting that the very best of the Island’s homegrown talent will be performing across the weekend.
Fronted by the captivating smokey soul vocals of Skye Edwards and multi-instrumentalist Ross Godfrey, Morcheeba have sold over 10 million copies of their 8 albums and continue to tour the world. Skye has one of the most recognisable voices on the planet, hearing her smooth, effortless tone teamed with Ross’ psychedelic guitar is an unforgettable, spellbinding experience that will be an exquisitely beautiful way to finish the Rhythmtree weekend.
Friday night is always a party night at Rhythmtree and for 2018 those bringing it all together have pulled out all the stops. As well as a live line up that features Liverpool rockers Space, festival favourites The Correspondents and the ska and rocksteady sounds of India’s The Ska Vengers, organisers have a very special 6 hour take-over by the team that produce Glastonbury’s extraordinary late night Shangri-La areas and Caravanserai, The Polka Tent and Club Dada at Bestival.
Continental Drifts will be filling Jill’s Woods from 20:00 until the early hours with their world renown mix of live bands, cabaret, burlesque and the best dance DJ’s out there. It will be the first appearance at Rhythmtree for the group.
Pete Holden of Rhythmtree says:
“Rhythmtree 2017 was a huge success. We’re an Island event produced by Islanders for the Island and more people than ever before discovered that we really are a weekend for everyone, whatever your musical tastes and whether you are young, getting on a bit or somewhere in between.
“With artists from as far afield as Papua New Guinea, Delhi, Brazil, the USA and Africa it’s hard to pick stand outs from our global visitors but we’re especially thrilled to be able to present Kenya’s soukous kings Orchestra Les Mapelenga and to give a UK festival debut to the remarkable Muntchaka from Brazil.
