POLICE OFFICER SUSTAINS EYE INJURY DURING ASSAULT IN COWES


Police on the Isle of Wight are on the hunt for a suspect who assaulted an officer and then fled on a motorcycle in Cowes yesterday evening (Wednesday).

The injured officer was conducting a stop and search under the misuse of drugs act when a third party intervened and assaulted the Police officer, causing them to sustain an injury to their eye.

It’s thought the injured officer hit their panic button which led to multiple Police units rushing to the scene of the incident on Pallance Road at around 17:30.

Hampshire Constabulary say that the assault suspect fled the area on a motorcycle. The individual that was being searched fled on foot.

No arrests have been made at this time.
