Artist Milly Stevens, who has exhibited both nationally and internationally, is bringing her latest works to The Big White Space at The Rembrandt Gallery in Newport later this month.
Milly makes paintings, mixed-media collages and assemblages. She has been working from outdoor environments for over 40 years and this, her latest body of work, responds to the colour and heat of the Southern Spanish mountains.
Fascinated by patinas and colours found whilst travelling, previous works have taken Venice, Amsterdam and Cape Cornwall as their subjects.
The exhibition, which runs from 23rd November – 3rd December, includes a series of previously unseen works made in response to the Riogordo in the Southern Spanish mountains. The works include 6 large oil paintings on canvas around 1 meter square, a series of 10 smaller works on canvass and several smaller scale collage and mixed media works on paper (framed).
Sketches of Spain runs from 23rd November – 3rd December, open Monday-Saturday 09:00-17:00.
