In just 3 weeks time the 2018 Rock Challenge and J Rock tour will once again arrive at Portsmouth Guildhall with a number of Isle of Wight schools set to compete.
A total of 19 Primary Schools will be taking part in 2 heats that were postponed due to the snowy weather last month. Local schools including Stenbury Federation, Medina House School, Federation of Nettlestone and Newchurch and The Bay CE Primary School will all be crossing the Solent later this month.
The heats will then be immediately followed by the 4 Southern Finals with the Isle of Wight represented across both the Open and Premier finals. For 2018, 2 open finals will be taking place on Thursday 26th April and Friday 27th April and Christ the King College will be competing against schools from Sussex, London, Dorset, Surrey, Hampshire, Northamptonshire, Suffolk and Buckinghamshire.
Sandown Bay Academy and Ryde Academy will both be representing the Isle of Wight in the Southern Premier Final. These schools, who previously showcased their performances at local events, will be hoping to take the title of Southern Premier Champions from last year’s winners, LeAF Studio School.
Supervising Event Manager, Sophia Campbell comments:
“The performances this year have been amazing and I can’t wait to see them come together at our four finals! Qualifying for the final is in itself a fantastic achievement which the schools, parents, students, and local communities should be very proud of!”
All 2018 events begin at 18:30 and tickets for the finals are available from Portsmouth Guildhall Box Office on 0844 847 2362.
