National advice from HM Coastguard says that a good rule of thumb is that you should keep at least the height of the cliff away, so that if the cliff is 25 metres high, you should not go closer than 25 metres to it. Furthermore, visitors to the coast shouldn’t be tempted to explore recent cliff falls.
