The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been called to an address in the village of Brighstone this morning (Tuesday).
Firefighters from Newport and Freshwater have been mobilised to Rowdown View off Upper Lane in the rural spot between Shorwell and Brook.
Crews have entered a property wearing breathing apparatus and are tackling the suspected house fire. It’s thought the incident may be centred around the kitchen.
The call came in at around 10:30 after a concerned neighbour raised the alarm.
Meanwhile in Newport, a minor 2-car road traffic collision has occurred on St Mary’s Roundabout at the top of Medina Way.
UPDATE @ 11:22 – The fire has been successfully extinguished, but crews are continuing work to ventilate the property.
It has been confirmed that the fire begun in the kitchen.
A pet cat has been treated for the effects of smoke inhalation after being rescued from the property by firefighters.
